The hospital negotiation tool (KH-Verhandlertool) is a software having been developed to assist health insurance companies in budget negotiations with in-patient care providers. For those in charge of budget negotiations at the health insurance company it is a reliable analysis tool to process the so-called AEB forms (compilation of remunerations and budget calculation) being provided by the hospitals and to analyse these forms from different points of view down to the DRG level. In addition, this tool enables an analysis of billing data being specific for the individual health insurance companies so that the negotiator can rely on quick availability of all relevant information in one application.
Budget negotiations between the statutory health insurance companies and the providers of in-patient care constitute an important part of joint self-administration. The objective of these annual negotiations is to negotiate the business activities of a hospital considering its mandate for healthcare supply and to restrict expenditures on benefits of the health insurance companies incurred herewith.
The hospital negotiation tool has been designed as a stand-alone application and thus can be used locally without requiring implementation in the existing IT infrastructure. It is an application based on an SQL database, the user interface has been realised in MS Excel.
This software solution particularly addresses budget negotiators from health insurance companies and their associations, respectively.
